2025 GLTC – SPECIAL STAGE Recap: Rain? Bring it On

    Date: May 9-10, 2025

Track: MICHELIN RACEWAY ROAD ATLANTA, GA

Road Atlanta threw us straight into the deep end. Our second event of the season and the weather decided to make it interesting — rain-slicked pavement, fogged visors, and rooster tails of spray in every braking zone. But for PanicSquad Racing, it wasn’t about avoiding the storm — it was about racing through it. And by the end of the weekend, we walked away with one of our strongest showings yet.

With dry pavement under us, we pushed hard to get a read on the car’s balance at Road Atlanta. Smooth inputs, high commitment through the esses, and late braking gave us our fastest lap of 1:45.001, landing 35th out of 37. Not our most explosive start, but the grip was there, and the confidence was building.

Overnight, the weather flipped the script. The first drops fell before we rolled to grid. We carved our way through the spray, clocking our fastest lap of 1:47.993, and crossed the line 33rd out of 37. No drama, no mechanical headaches — just getting the car and crew in sync with the conditions.

The magic started here. Still damp, still tricky, but we found a rhythm and started picking off spots. Our fastest lap dropped to 1:58.886, and when the checkered flew, we were sitting 20th out of 34. That’s the kind of jump that makes all the wet practice worth it.

By now, the rain was less of a problem and more of a personality trait for the weekend. We kept our composure, stayed out of trouble, and set a best of 1:55.556, finishing 21st out of 31. Another clean run, another step in consistency.

The final race had us pushing through patches of drying pavement and leftover slick zones. With a fastest lap of 2:02.267, we clawed our way to 18th out of 29. No spins, no broken parts — just a strong, confident finish to cap the weekend.
